Geothermal system

Geothermal system

Geothermal energy is the science that studies the production of heat and its diffusion within our planet.

This form of energy can be valued and exploited by creating a geothermal system.

Thanks to this innovative technology, it will be possible to generate hot water, heat buildings during the winter, and cool them during the summer.

Composition

A geothermal system is divided into three main components:

• geothermal heat pump;
• geothermal probe (heat exchange system with the subsoil);
• thermal energy storage and heat release system.

How it works

Its operation involves the installation of geothermal probes inside which a heat transfer fluid flows that captures heat from the ground and releases it to the heat pump. The latter collects it and transfers it inside the buildings. Cooling, on the other hand, is achieved by running the heat pump in reverse.

Advantages

This system, in favor of sustainability, has multiple advantages:

  • Always available and continuous energy;
  • Reduced consumption;
  • Single heating and cooling system;
  • Improved energy class;
  • Increase in the value of the building;
  • Reduced CO2 emissions;
  • Safe technology (no combustion);
  • Limited or non-existent maintenance;
  • High longevity of the systems (20 years for heat pumps, 30 years for radiant panels, and over 50 years for geothermal probes).

Geothermal technology is of great support in solving problems related to the climate crisis and is destined to be one of the protagonists in the transition towards a more "conscious" economy oriented towards the protection of the natural resources of our planet.
